Phantom Mask
I don’t want to be a writer anymore.
I don’t want to feel the constant need to pick up a pen and paper to get my feelings out.
All because simply my mouth is zipped shut.
The only way to hear anything about me is through my writing. It's the only way I feel, I touch, I see, it's the only way I am me. I'm constantly putting on a show for others so I don't have the unbearing thoughts of if they will like me or not. But with writing I can show the true me. Saying things that I could never tell a person. My heart just wants to be liked by others and I'm tired of hearing how...

What we never had
Was a poem unfolding
In technicolor hues
The timeless art
Of a soul recognizing itself
As its only muse
A shattered reflection
Revealing itself
As the only truth
In scattered glints
So easy to miss
Too easy to lose

She is Her: Gem
Her dance is like a thought,
Her moves transpire like a dream,
A silent cry amid teary isle,
She dwells in a mist,
A whisper less companion …her mind a compassion,
She conveys,
A scene of certainty.
Like a bubble, she spaced in between,
A wish above the darkest sea,
An underground trail,
She obeys,
While her soul sees
Picture of those,
A glance of mystic pearls,
A wrecked page ...a map to her quest.
One of the stories left to be told,
Chapter of proses still to complete,
Silently… her heart...

Again and Again
Feeling like I have something to gain,
I dust my pencil off again.
Some letters march to their end
because I have writer’s block again.
Other letters go against the grain;
they are looking to start a war again.
Banding together, they do what they intend;
now I am crying from what they said again.
Here I am harvesting my pain,
hoping to use it to fix myself again.
Making a stand, then I have to pretend
to get my bearings and have a grip again.
Seems organic, and I feel perfectly sane.
No, I do not want to fail again.
Yes, I...

Island?
It's not worth the effort,
so never think that
we need other people;
experience has shown that
we can manage alone,
contrary to thinking
relationships are everything,
I choose to believe that
independence
trumps
interdependence
because
I am an island, just like in the song
so I'll stop thinking that
my social skills are broken.
it's just not true that
everybody needs someone
and this is OK:
I rely on myself
and can't honestly say
I need you.

Absence Unspoken
I was gone for a while,
Sick and weary, body ailing.
A cold, a fever, taking their toll -
Apologies, my friends, I must make.
My virtual companions,
You who I hold dear,
Even though you did not ask
Of my time away, my absence here.
Yet you color my thoughts,
Your words a vibrant hue.
Poetry binds us, I know this true -
More than the author, the words shine through.
I returned, no messages awaiting,
No one seeming to care I was gone.
Perhaps my absence went unnoticed,
My reappearance just as swiftly...
Sick and weary, body ailing.
A cold, a fever, taking their toll -
Apologies, my friends, I must make.

Creatures in earth
I am the sum of my days
And that is my prison
And I do have these constructed shapes
Eyes
Erratic
Frantic
Peaceful
We are separated creatures
We did not live the same hours
I suffered
I can speak of pain
You laughed
You can speak of laughing
I need a friend to share
Who would understand
And that is my prison
And I do have these constructed shapes

(22) Broken Apologies 12.07.23 @ 1:43am
The voices continue to taunt me, they never quit.
I’ve learned to cope with it.
Loneliness is dangerous when one drowns in sorrow.
Heads turn only to find dark memories of tomorrow.
The past contains resentment and misery.
Some of which may cause mental injury.
Overtime we will conquer it over a smoke.
Life is nothing but a cruel sick joke.
Kidnapped by amnesia, meanwhile.
I look outside the window with a fake smile.
Knowing it’ll never be easy to stay happy.
Nobody needs to know that.
Words can’t fix what’s broken;...

One Man’s Savior Is Another Man’s Devil
Do I rehash these former wounds
What benefit does it serve
When it can be far too easy to think
On the terms of what seems fair and what we don’t deserve
When truth stands to reason
Our scale is a skewed bias
Everything through the filter of our partial sense of pious
No entitlement to bitterness when we are the forgiven
Nevertheless we can all relate for the ways we’ve been betrayed
Our hearts recall the daggers for the ways we’ve been filleted
No claims to monsters lives
When we bear the blade of our own knives
We...

Embracing The Aquatic, Heat 1
Doctor says,
“stop sitting idle watching the telly
start emptying that bowl full of jelly.”
Next, prescribing an exercise regime.
“Water walking is easy on the joints”
Dear, healer of highest esteem
you taunt me on purpose
I am good but by no means perfect
Oh, on the floor of a shallow pool
not striding on the surface?
I’ll do as you suggest.
A wonderful dichotomous effect,
losing weight while keeping cool.

Echoes of a Fan
My gaze chases around an unkiltered fan;
She works, wholly, but with a warbling wobble.
Induce one to daze, those soft shrieks can
She shows me my self-deprecated reflection:
Was never a well oiled machine, in my lifespan
Full throttle or down for days, said it's bipolar
Churning hard, but always back where I began
But, when it's all said and done, 'least I'm cool
She works, wholly, but with a warbling wobble.
Induce one to daze, those soft shrieks can
She shows me my self-deprecated reflection:

IMPERVIOUS TO BORDERS (mid 1990's- early 2000's; Galveston Island Texas)
i am a color
moving through borders
though seldom seen
or known
some borders are set
some are unmarked
some borders are free
and then sometimes
at times
but not very often
especially these days
anymore
there are no borders at all
therefore i am a color
free from and impervious to
borders boundaries
and other such word label limits
just as i feel i am
equally free from
and impervious to
the thoughts words
judgments...
