Salman Rushdie
Intrepid gadfly;
the voice of dissent.
Multiple times stricken,
multiple times resolved.
Though he bleeds,
still the pen that chides never bleeds,
nor is it obliterated.
For three decades and four,
death he evaded,
still, multiple times stricken,
evasive he remains.
the voice of dissent.
Multiple times stricken,
multiple times resolved.
Though he bleeds,
still the pen that chides never bleeds,
nor is it obliterated.
For three decades and four,
death he evaded,
still, multiple times stricken,
evasive he remains.

Story Poem, Nr.15 — The Wall and The River
Four generations, friendly, side by side
our two families had farmed, with the old wall
a place for meeting and shaking of hands
discussing harvests, the weather, a stall
for the Christmas Fayre; plus old friends who’d died.
The altercation came one Fall when cows
of mine, just twenty or so, were found
eating his grass, having crossed a broken spot
where crumbled stones collapsed in a small mound
rolled down the slope to where the river flows.
He banged hard on my door, smelling of drink ...

Collateral Damage?
seeking solace within the bar
thinking money's now their test
and gazing at the bare tip jar
sans the beating on their breasts
gone their jobs, their livelihood
how long they've missed that factory whistle
remembering of where it stood
for the making of iron pipes and nipples
"another round", they call to Doug
as creaks the stool upon they sit
watch the flow from tap to mug
killing time by smaller sips
yet, cross an ocean or...

Stars
( after Robert Frost )
I saw them once, at first light
glistening upon water --
drifting aimlessly, shooting ducks
ignorant of slaughter --
Their light-force dwindling rapidly;
I wanted to warn them, Run! --
Sunrise will assimilate you!
But, my heart held back words
They appeared content, trusting fate;
I could do no more than watch --
suddenly realizing Death
is full payment for Life
What was it I wished for
( while ignorant of sorrow )
as they plummeted...

A Prequel and a Sequel to Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken"
The year is Eighteen Seventy-Four
when I was born on a troubled road
with family deaths and life unsure
and constant illness, insecure,
the future weighed as a heavy load.
In a world thus marked, I had a dream
beyond the farm, I might choose to dare,
take a poet’s path - that many would deem
a leap too far from my earthly scene;
so I took a walk to clear the air …
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not...

Ghost House ( after Robert Frost )
Whoever once stepped afoot
upon this now abandoned porch
must’ve toiled a daily wage
within the fields and garden gate
hanging now as rotted wood
Whoever cooked within this kitchen
canning beans and plucking chicken
surely did so with such care
her flower vase still sitting there
with wilted bloom on withered stem
Whoever slept within this room
of hand-sewn curtains billowing-
snagged and torn on broken...

Down On Frost
Eat your heart out Robert Frost
No.
Seriously.
Rise from the dead and tear that meter machine from your once golden chest
“Out, Out–”
Hurry now the meter’s running
And this free verse boy doesn’t have much time
For you see,
When I was a mere schoolboy,
Armed with humor and a penchant for the literal,
You hid your meaning from me
And any time I tried to figure you out,
The teacher would tell me I was wrong
Well maybe you were wrong
For trying to regiment sentiment in the event of God
‘Let thy form be nay lukewarm...

Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening ( After Robert Frost )
The path I walk is winter white
reflective on this moonlit night
o're field and glade I slowly crept
to not disturb or cause a fright
the animals who might've slept
had not I tread within my step
peaceful slumber deep in dreams
by snapping wood of broken twig
Startling their eve routines
in depth of burrow and trunk of trees
or high in branch under sky
curled all warm with families
Woodland creatures far and wide
watched...

On Robert Frost's 'the Road not Taken' (Mon, 12 January 2015)
By HHMCameron
in every person's
life there exists a moment
or many moments,
where different decisions
could have vast consequences
.
literally forks
in the road that you are on
upon your travels
or a moral choice that was
happiness or vast sorrow
.
Robert Frost may have
captured it best in that work
but that is because
in that bright moment

Jasmine-Scented Pathways
As we leisurely walk, I wonder how
My wishes--have all come true!
Here I am, holding hands with you
Along jasmine-scented pathways—
Leading to the nearby park
I used to only dream about these days
When you and I will be together
Nothing else matters, but us—
And the beauty of nature around us:
The birds singing a wonderful sound
Praising the daylight on the top
Of the tall sycamore trees—with their leaves
Casting shadows, towering tall above us
Gently kissed by the early morning frost.
We like to walk early, unlike Robert who...

Art appreciation
(a response to Robert Frost's poem Design)
What but design of darkness do appall?—
If design govern in a thing so small.
— —
Spiders' lower leg joints contain special pads
which dampen low frequency vibrations
like wind and sway
and transmit high frequency vibrations
like crawling prey and mating calls;
and the pads transition from plastic to glassy when the sun goes down
to be stiffer at night than the day,
to transmit vibrations from further afield
when the nocturnal...

A little courage never hurt anyone
Life is kinda like a Robert Frost poem
You have to choose which decisions to make and what road to choose
Sometimes you pull a Robert Frost and go down a lonely ass road with no one to travel beside you
So they have absolutely no idea whats going on in your head
But sometimes you go with the flow and follow everyone that is going down the other road
This way your overwhelmed by everything
And always getting bumped and pushed down
Which road do you choose...
You must have to ask yourself that
Would you rather be a follower?
Or go out of...
