It was White
A white ... A white ... I’m dreaming of a curtain of snow
falling from her shoulders.
Snow crackling against the window. Snow shredded
with gunfire. Red sky.
Ocean Vuong
Aubade with Burning City
There lay war. Tyranny’s serial
Killer... heat abroad
The moon was white
Degrees of yellow
White...
falling from her shoulders.
Snow crackling against the window. Snow shredded
with gunfire. Red sky.
Ocean Vuong
Aubade with Burning City
There lay war. Tyranny’s serial
Killer... heat abroad
The moon was white
Degrees of yellow
White...

Did You
Father.
Did you ever remember me
there
when I was small,
did the sky record
what you saw?
When I heard you speak
in low rumbles of thunder
before a storm,
did it ever occur to you
that I was painted on your clouds
before all this;
that I was
behind that door in
the eaves of your old house...
Did you ever remember me
there
when I was small,
did the sky record
what you saw?
When I heard you speak
in low rumbles of thunder
before a storm,
did it ever occur to you
that I was painted on your clouds
before all this;
that I was
behind that door in
the eaves of your old house...

Somehow
Someday I'll hear her where she remains,
somewhere in the old room
where part of me still lives.
Someday I'll kiss the sky to reach her
where she resides in me.
Somehow she will be waiting
in my shadow.
Don't worry, my Horizon,
you will forget her
as my knees will remember loving her,
and reaching up only to fall.
I'll pick myself up to fall from her mouth
as words unspoken, dying, sputtering.
Someday I'll become myself and find her
gone to become the sky.
I'll look up and call her Mother ...
somewhere in the old room
where part of me still lives.
Someday I'll kiss the sky to reach her
where she resides in me.
Somehow she will be waiting
in my shadow.
Don't worry, my Horizon,

gone to become the sky.
I'll look up and call her Mother ...

A Little Closer To The Edge (Crater Of Stars)
Father.
I enter the word
whitening in moonlight.
A glimmer,
you are still electric
in wordless theory
where you evoked me
and I collapsed into you.
Crater of reception
falling out of Night's cricket songs;
shredded body of love.
Tempest,
Father whom I fell into,
where you held a cave for me
deeper than blackest vastness
of furthest sky.
Every star is yours,
oh Mother,
where I grew, expanding, extracting
within his grasp.
Teach me how to speak...

The Sea
A friend sang my praise,
All these he put in place:
There is(he said), a river
flowing in pride:
The sun taking her on ride.
Smiling always was the river,
As all wishes the sun gives her.
Within the river lurks variant aquatics:
Jellies,Octopus, sharks and wasted mass, light and thick.
There came a boat, measuring her path:
Hunting for the virtues lurking in her.
The owner of the boat threw in his hook,
Ready to withdraw many virtue.
And the river willingly gave out her offspring,
While the boat's owner mercy sing. ...
