I'm breaking my own rule
contemplating a particular what if
has me wondering...
who would I be...
if I loved me...
the way I care about others
how strong could I have been
if the understanding I've always given
had landed square on my weary shoulders
a cloak repelling the cold
as the world rained hard on my day
would it have borne less weight
been less agonizingly saturating
if I felt my own worth
how much less would it hurt
if the being on the receiving end ...

Let Me Vanish
burning twisted
restless
ugly soul
seen by
my haters
as usless
not worth
breathing
the given oxygen
rarely leaving
any kind
impression
more caustic
than falling
acid rain
just a grey
wandering
silhouette
lingering on
ghost footsteps
affecting nothing
this voild becomes
all consuming
crushing hope
simple wish
I want to
vanish

When a day starts
it is unknown for all of us
how it may play out
For when we rouse from that slumber
whether it is in the radiant light of the Sun
or sheltered in night's embrace
What wonders will come?
Yet with an open heart
each day breaks through
as a herald of
opportunity and occasions
from within the chaos that is life.

yanking the rug

I've got no problem with ownership
but I'm no longer willing...
to carry the weight of some bogus shit
when it comes to my own actions...
I take full responsibility
recognizing healing & reparations...
are entirely up to me
it's not as hard as people like to believe
saying those 2 little words...
I'm sorry
{I'll even accept my bad...}
but where I draw the line
...absolutely refuse to rise to the bait...
is when others expect me
to cover their ass
take on board the onus...

Damn Nesting Owls won’t shut up so I can think!
& now the Cooper’s Hawks are awake!
Difficult to spit out Day 28’s poem
all this racket goin’ on just outside my door
Don’t get me wrong, as I do adore
them Bird’s of Prey
the sounds they make
the rodent control
but the din early in the morning
when I am trying to think?!

Hey! Are you still here??
I thought I had kicked you out.
I only let you in
because you came with such a
huge advance
You didn’t mind the mess
or the leaks in the roof
I said ‘take it as it is’
and you said ‘I love it’
But now the rent is way past due
and still you linger
taking up space
on my mental couch
You lounge in silence
and I can’t relax
thinking maybe if I mop the floor
you’ll finally pay up
But those muddy bootprints
you left on my soul

Endless Battles
that endless
knife edge
clear sharp line
unsteady
baggage makes
it a more
difficult gamble
survival guide
unreadable
challenging
consequences
an unescapable
fact remsains

darkness i exist
equilibrium never
achieved

Fractured Light
Vibrant rays of light are
Bouncing and beaming
Reflecting off of mirrors
It shows me what I’m seeking
Imperfections glued together
Over cracks that split across
Dividing up reflections
From once whole solid glass
Shards of glass are falling
I put the pieces back together
Seeing myself in every
Little splinter of mirror
What does the story tell?
How do the shards add up?
This story is fragmented
But I will never give up
One day I will be whole again
And I’ll see my true...

The Little Things - NaPoWriMo 27
It is the little things.
I could list them all
but that is not the point;
they are the nameless small miracles
so easily taken for granted each day.
Yet they are the individual blocks
that carve out how a day may be
and how a life can fell,
to form a pyramid towering edifice
that is referred to as 'living'.
The small pinpricks of annoyance
that result in a screaming match,
or the unbidden memory
that speaks of bittersweet past
with gladness to warm a cold heart.
For small does not mean worthless ...
I could list them all
but that is not the point;

creature of habit

I have a startlingly large collection of movies
among them are television series...
{some from my childhood days...}
documentaries ...
& a bizarre array of disaster films...
...many of them low budget & cheesy
about which my family teases me
but I love them
550 {& counting...} dvds
yet I will binge watch the same dozen or so
when asked why I don't view the rest
I was at a loss to explain
until I saw an article that deeply resonates
it stated that trauma survivors...

spark conversation
spark intention
sparks always lead to change
when you smother the sparks
within and among you
things just remain the same
a spark is a glimmer
a spark is a hint
a nucleus of a notion
a spark can provoke
a spark animates
a spark sets things in motion
a single spark
strategically applied
can ignite a chain reaction
a handful of sparks
spread far and wide
connects small flames in common action
