“Welcome brother” the man in the gi said as I stepped out of the portal
“We’ve been waiting for you” he added as he came in to view
And I swear I could hear a gong as he approached me getting closer
That’s when my alternate said “here, you are me, and I, am you”
“How did you know I was coming?” I asked him as he bowed reverently
Then he showed his brace “we’ve been trying to pinpoint your location
You’ve been traveling near and far” he added “you must be well versed”
“Traveling the universe?” I said “I’ve been...

Duck, Duck, Goose (The Return of Fancy Duck)
Walternate Universe – FOWL-420
A quack echoed across the giant bushes, plants and shrubbery
I thought I had shrunken myself when I landed on this universe
When lo and behold a white duck that was almost ten feet tall
Came a stomping through and I thought “my situation got worse”
Upon seeing me the duck started rushing after me, quackly, no, quickly
Compared to his humongous stature I must have looked like a runt
With a modeled waddle he was quacking, squawking and screeching
I regretted all those years back in the day when I played duck hunt...

Wallyroo92, the Musical!
Walternate Universe – MUS-102
Right away I could hear a choir, an orchestra, a chorus line?
The portal opened again but right into the same auditorium
The stage was full with singers and actors dancing and singing
But something felt strange, it seemed more like a sanatorium
I looked at the brace’s destination and it was off by a digit
Soon all the cast started dancing and singing around me
They didn’t seem shocked that I had appeared out of nowhere
They were more concerned I wasn’t signing the musical themes
But what struck me as...

The Magnificent

The portal opened in the mezzanine of an empty old style theater
From there I could hear someone working over by the stage floor
As I walked down the isle between the seats I could see my brace blinking
My parallel self here was the likes of something I’d never seen before
“Hold it right there!” I heard his voice echoing across the ceiling
I had a feeling this alternate of mine was going to blow my mind
He was floating in mid-air about twenty feet over my head revealing

The city was busy but I noticed most of the citizens were women
The architecture and designs were a sight and pleasing to the eye
It was a metropolis of the future, technology and nature in balance
A far more advanced society here had been able to strive and survive
But as I walked through some blocks I got stares from the ladies
Men were being cat called, I guessed the roles here were reversed
Then I remembered something Beta-2 had mentioned in our talk

The deck of the ship was being pounded by freezing waters
And that’s where the portal had opened, right at the bow
I held on to some rope that was nearby as I got sprayed
Until some men came to see what all this was about
“What the, why aren’t you preparing the meals?” one said
“I just came out to get a breath of fresh air” I replied
“Get back down below” one of them ordered me
I guess I didn’t realize in this storm I could have died
I walked through the corridors of this big research ship ...

The Chaser
Walternate Universe – OKIO-2305
The skies were dark as storms formed in the distant horizon
The braces indicated that my alternate was somewhere near
The landscape was wide and with nothing but open fields
As the approaching thunder and lightning caused some fear
Then in the distance I could see the contours in quick flashes
Funnels descended from the heavens right into the ground
I stood in the middle of that open field by the side of the road
Until suddenly rain out of nowhere started pouring down
More lightning and flashes...

It was 11:12pm when I stepped on the other side of the portal
I found myself in the front yard of a house on the countryside
I took my helmet off looking up at the night sky filled with stars
Glad to be back on the ground and looking for my new guide
The porch light turned on and he came out slowly to greet me
His hair was almost white but I noticed he had many scars
“I’m glad to see you” he said hugging me like we were old friends

Lost in Space - Titan
Walternate Universe Beta-2
I stood up looking in the middle of what was a hangar
Many large windows looked out into a very dark sky
The strange landscape seems hazy from the inside
While the giant planet and its rings loomed nearby
It’s quite a sight, one I could have only imagined
When the sudden realization finally came to mind
The engineers from Europa were supposed to send me home
Now I’m farther out and losing even more time
A giant rover appeared from behind a garage door
The driver looked bewildered when he saw me...

“R-O-O-92” I replied to a council of five behind a desk
“R-O-O is not an Alpha designation” one of them replied
“How did you get that brace?” another one inquired
