Beheaded
Curtsy to the Queen
Talons swoops, fear not of its smoke screen
Claims of divinity in times, yet the core of the soul rings untrue
Reposed, yet empathic unto scattered brain fools
Variations found within its mental slew
Glass dynasties shatter, stepping stones under my feet I reduce
Crowns of grandeur are bestowed
Not loaned, confiscated, of elevated along a dirt road
Hail to the Queen
Guillotined unto the supremacies of my swift validity
Remnant of once was, ashes to ashes, dust to dust of its austerity ...
Talons swoops, fear not of its smoke screen
Claims of divinity in times, yet the core of the soul rings untrue
Reposed, yet empathic unto scattered brain fools
Variations found within its mental slew

In A Dream
In a dream you and I were there
floating in the past somewhere
waiting on the world to turn
everyone’s desire to burn.
What the world has not become
letting go I am someone
who bleeds into every known
thrown away like a stone
given to this moment it seems
everything that matters could be:
in a dream, but never there;
in a dream where you still care,
in a dream you never died,
in a dream where heaven lied.
Yesterday we never cried,
lift me to your reasons why
all we are is gone inside,
all we carry forth...
floating in the past somewhere
waiting on the world to turn
everyone’s desire to burn.
What the world has not become
letting go I am someone
who bleeds into every known
thrown away like a stone
given to this moment it seems
everything that matters could be:

in a dream where heaven lied.

Ode To Night
We are all like the bright moon, we still have our darker side.”
-Khalil Gibran
I
Cry with me, sultry night;
pray for the sentient things
crawling ‘neath your sight.
Glow your moon’s pale light.
Illuminate those whom pine for all
to be right and the fields of things
who count not the hours,
but wave in the wind endlessly
and futilely.
Pass me under safe care tonight,
let the voices lead me softly along:
a muted song.
Cry with me, sultry night.

Visions: Into Light
To see is to hear, once heard it speaks;
a flight of fancy to find the meek
ones who hide from eyes that search
may all our foes we besmirch.
Into light we glide upon
wings unfurled; our will is strong
as the tree men rooted by dirt;
as the brethren found on earth.
Magic now, as it would seem
only hears of which we dream;
visions come to grace our eyes
as we look to ancient skies
Everywhere and spread upon
all we seek to emerge before long
To see is to know and learn so well;
Forever yours, PRaladriel...

ones who hide from eyes that search
may all our foes we besmirch.
Into light we glide upon

all we seek to emerge before long
To see is to know and learn so well;
Forever yours, PRaladriel...

Music Passion Ten
Bluegrass Roots and Country
Appalachian Summer Night
a front porch congregation
drinking moonshine get’n tight
on cigar box guitar someone strums
banjo lends its lively voice
effervescent fiddle joins
washtub bass and whiskey jug
In tandem mark the beat
washboard adds its joyful noise
singing songs of a sobering nature
of hard times been and coming
ever present death, old time religion
love’s conquest, evil’s defeat
t’was the place of Bluegrass birthing
where seed was planted and nurtured

Destined To Finish First At Last
Young and wise
King Henry Five
with might didst proclaim
*“the gentler gamester
is the soonest winner.”
commanding
that his army strive
to treat
their foe with favor
come now winning times
much sooner than later
when like altruism
fills all hearts and minds
Today, lamentably,
that peaceable player
would nary survive
but would, instead,
be eaten alive
lest nefarious
kindness thrive
With distressing frequency
I hear of me said
“you’re a really nice guy but…”

The kind of day that fills out a life
There are days in life that are unthinkably awful
when you desperately want to hit rewind
go back to before whatever “thing” happened
and claw your way out of your own skin.
There are even a few that are blissful
with loved ones and seashores
days you want to live over again
with music soaring like meteors.
This wasn’t either of those.
It was entirely uneventful.
It was a day with work to be done;
creative, enjoyable, non-spectacular work
a day with songbirds on my morning walk
and dreary rain by afternoon
a day...

Out of place of time
It finally arrived,
and I am greeted
by the two blue wizards
upon a backdrop of blue mountains,
where they are or go
none truly know.
It seems such a shame
to now open it
and spoil it with use,
commit it to the ages;
time has delivered it
time will keep it.
Upon looking
I have the strange sense
that although I see two,
there is only one being
and I have stumbled on a secret
that once may have meant something
but now is only myth and memory.
If only I could convey...

Day 30
My mind is full of so many other things right now
Yet it is day 30 or 30
Somehow I’m here
I thought for sure I wouldn’t be
It’s been a hard month to say the least
I do not know how to write anything anymore
My brain just doesn’t want to work
Not after everything
And yet I’m still here
Trying to reach that 50 unique word count as quickly as possible
Yet it is day 30 or 30
Somehow I’m here
I thought for sure I wouldn’t be
It’s been a hard month to say the least
I do not know how to write anything anymore
My brain just doesn’t want to work

And yet I’m still here
Trying to reach that 50 unique word count as quickly as possible

6 Months
The last 6 months have been hell
I went from worrying about my first year of college
To worrying about my dads health
6 months has changed my life
Knowing the doctors can’t do anything else hurts
Knowing I’m so far away right now makes me sick
I just want to see him before he’s gone
I really don’t want to think about that
I’ve cried the majority of the past 24 hours
I don’t know how anyone takes this news
How do I cope with the idea
That my dad won’t live to see me turn 20
Or graduate college
Or get married
It hurts

One month of poetry
A month is potentially long enough
to start new writing habits and rituals;
both good ones and potentially bad ones
A month is definitely long enough
to feel confidence wax like the moon
even as your energy wanes
A month is undoubtedly long enough
to thoroughly exhaust some poetry topics
while scratching the surface of new ones
A month is unfortunately long enough
to become extremely sleep deprived
and realize this just isn’t sustainable
A month is certainly long enough
to shatter any hare-brained...

Up And At 'Em
Comforting comforter
covers my head
tired eyes shielded
from morning light’s dread
loath to rise up
leave empty my bed
Today I delegate living
my dream self
will live in my stead
I’ll remain in Nod
where my body won’t ache
my knees have cartilage
and back pain suspended
yes this magical
slumbering village
where no one offends
hence no one’s offended
I know, I know
this just won’t fly
I’m no sleeping dog
that my kin will let lie
I must arise
with my world interact ...
