I came to you one day in my dreams chasing your voice
Seeking the angelic woman that inspired my senses
The one and only, the guardian of my desires
Are you real, are you there, are you the fruit of my thoughts
Ages ago, before I ever reached you, I asked you if your love was real
You smiled, Silly question you said, aren’t I here?
My imagination is running rampant
Are you real, are you there, are you a spirit living in my mind
Then I met you, the palpable, the physical the actual you
I am fully aware, I know it, I can see you...

My Some Days
Some days, the smiles simply don’t want to come,
These are the days I try the hardest to fake it.
It isn’t because I think I’m infallible,
It isn’t because I’m afraid of showing vulnerability.
Some days, the laughter is harder to generate,
These are the days I employ plenty of silliness to mask it.
It isn’t because I think I have a duty to always be happy,
It isn’t because I think everyone’s happiness hinges on mine.

Rip my heart out (see note)
You know that each of us started somewhere just like
you. And I don't want to be attracted to tinsel
I don't need a Villa or an infinity pool,
though I think about them sometimes
These are specters I may chase in my mind

To Demi - The Warrior Queen
Like a skyscraper that emerges from the dust
You come completely from the ground up.
The hurtful words and pain may dig into your
Skin like tattoos or scars, but never combust
Into smaller pieces, hoping you can be a cup
That is empty. Demi, you are constantly at war
With yourself in the hopes of being perfect like
Everyone else, wanting to be skinny and pretty,
But don’t you know you are perfect like a gem?
You may think you are down to your last strike
Of the game, longing for its close, but the city
Lights still shine...
