Call To Action Poems

Call to action poems, a style of poetry which motivates the reader to take notice and make changes in their life, for the good of a cause. Highlighting issues in society, and attempting to provide solutions, to encourage the reader to take action and help deal with the problem. Call to action poems try to change peoples' mindsets, and inspire them to move beyond apathy and inaction.

HOLDING POEMS PRISONERS
I
once read years ago
that most of us human
beings have one or more
poems held prisoners in
our minds, thoughts and souls.
IN
conversations we affirm quietly
to others, "I have a poem I've
been planning to write", or
scribble it on paper and then
toss it into the trash.
THE
number one reason most poems
are kept in solitary confinement
is we're afraid of what those outside
in the world of "Everybody else's work
is perfect" will say.
DARE

JUDGING A POEM
I
Confess that I am among
the innumerable souls that
dare to venture into the magical
and amazing world of writing
and reading poetry.
I
use to try to write and judge
poems by syntax, grammar,
and all the rules Mrs. Know it All
taught in English 301.
I
use to read the great and
well known poets and conclude
that "I might as well forget trying
to write even a simple poem."
THEN
after years of silence but still
in the corner of my heart there
was the urge to write something,

Tattoo My Reasons
In the feeling tattoo my reasons
For who I am and why I’m here
It feels so accidental why did we meet
I’m entrapped by the sight of you
We look away from today start planning tomorrow
We want a life that’s residential
It could depend on who we elect
Tomorrow might be so far away
Today is here and it’s fucking scary
Don’t mean to curse but it’s apparent
That you have to elect someone who is
Truly Presidential and not a firestarter
Look to the future let the past...
For who I am and why I’m here

FADED GLORY
There it stood on its pole
The red, white, and blue of old
Waving violently against the wind
As it found itself hinged
Intertwined by the blowing air.
The Old Faded Glory still waving there.
Many days of old have come and gone
Standing proud during each patriotic song
The emblem of American ground
Rippling the outroar cries of the warfare sound
Of long ago…dating back centuries of time.
Once gallantly and vibrantly you did stand
When soldiers encamped to conquer the land.
Yet, here you are…still standing as you wave ...

Brain drain of culture
Brain drain of culture
Teachers and nurses
Run for the exits
As right wing madness
Seeps in local school boards
Putting matches to literature
Telling them you can’t be gay
Or be he she or they
Mickey Mouse is an outlaw
Magic kingdom not so free
Down in Texas wheelchair of cruelty
Letting little school kids be mowed down
Or freezing with no power
As cops in the hallway on their phones
Are afraid of a one man killing machine
He’s giving permits to kill out like candy

The manacles of yesteryear and 2025
is MAGA repackaged monarchy with their racist jive.
Their leader can't control himself or value sacrifice
like some drug lord we saw once portrayed on Miami Vice.
In him his faithful recognize their self-same slutty traits
