Abundant Life
Passing through nameless West Texas towns
The neon sign of a motel flashes vacant
Inside a reprieve from the cold road
The endless asphalt stretching forward
Like a jet trail through the dark sea of land
Inside warm myself by the heater
Listening to TV evangelists
Sermonizing apocalypse
Across the electrified airwaves
Sitting in the motel restaurant

Joe Biden and other Democrats claim that if Republicans are elected tomorrow, our democracy will end. That's one of the craziest things I've ever heard. Have we ever lost our democracy in the past when Republicans were elected? No, we didn't and we never will. I put very little faith in what Sleepy Joe has to say.
Joe Biden and other Democrats also want to close every coal company in America. Coal miners are human beings and they need their jobs. They need to support their families. I don't think it's a good idea to put a lot of innocent people out of work.

let there be a homecoming
fall sun on a dare
shines over these fields
breaking through smokey air
highlighting a loss that is real
in the spirit of the season
stretch way up - follow the Breath
we're bound to find the reason
our pain's so keen it built a fence
we ask Earth Mother
shall we ever get better at living as one
or is defeating all others
the core struggle that must be won?
flailing with fix 'em up souls
Humanity beaten and bloodied
we waste time digging holes
Family yet blinded and muddied
the love in us...
shines over these fields

The time has come to lift up the carpet of deception and expose the dirt that you swept under it.
We do not care whether you can stand the smell of your own excrement or not.
Your opportunistic forefathers ran away from Great Britain and came to the west as wanders.

The Nazis won, ending the Jews’
Everything one could conceive
Nothing left except to grieve
Culture, nuance and tradition
Lost to gunpoint proselytism
Any left would bear the scars
Minds existing behind bars
Most would say they disappeared
Though it was all engineered

Colonizers drew a map and
Colored in right over them
No right to be American
Genocide before the world
Rolled out like a flag unfurled
America hides this truth inside

American Conflict Resolution (and Luck)
The grocery store near my apartment
is not exactly Whole Foods
no $7 bottles of alkanline water
no emu eggs
the demographic here
trends more toward shoplift
than face lift
i needed laundry detergent
my Cheer free and clear pods
exploded
didn't know they could do that
summer in hellizona
the housewares aisle is deserted
except for one average sized man
he's taking up the whole aisle
not just with his body
but with his aura
i have a new agey bent
but this surprises me
instinct...

When I was a lad I wanted more than anything
to be American. Didn't have
the happiest of childhoods, and so I looked
to movies for escape, the junk
of cinema and its marketing clouded
my adolescent mind.
The "trailer voice" emerged. I saw myself
tightrope walking along the road's curbed edge:
the unsubtle, manipulative, pseudo-classical music
backing the empty symbol of my childish movement:
"he was just a boy... until he found himself again."

Ensconced
Let recollection lapse lazily aft
Into ruinous bone white driftwood heaps
Clogging the sea of Twenty Three and Me
With ancient piles of obsolete craft
Sown of raw emotion and what that reaps
When calendars course to futurity
And tacking into continuum squall
Takes everything that a human has got,
Rewarded only with sinking debris
Or a gunwale full of cankerous gall
Inking the Captain's log of caustic thought,
But as we sail from the past, we flee,
And hope to settle in some stable place
Where a level surface won't spill a drink ...
