Machine Guns in the Park
I love my new park
It has two half basketball courts.
A lake.
A wide u-shaped fountain,
where one can sit on benches
comforted by the sound
of rivulets of water cascading down stone.
That is as long as one isn't interrupted by the staccato of machine gun fire
Fake is better than the real thing.
Far, far better.
But a plastic machine gun
complete with real sound effects! (sans the tortured, terrorized screams of innocent people- maybe that costs extra)
in the hands of a four year old
is disconcerting. ...

I feel it!
in my stomach
that low vibration
of want...
need
I crave pizza
not a whole pie
mind you
just a slice or
two
but there is a
problem
around here most
of the pizza shops
that sell by the slice
are already closed
leaving me with the
damnable choice of
a dozen cookie cutter
big outfit cooperate
America pizza chains
with their crust that
taste like paste
their cheese as flat
as a glass bottom
boat...

US Election 2024
Sorry world,
I no longer believe a word anyone says about anything,
and I do not have the energy to argue with nitwits anymore.
For the third election in a row the claims will be evil versus evil, liar versus liar, corrupt versus corrupt, and they aren't necessarily wrong on either side about the other.
If it isn't obvious by now that this system is designed to provide terrible choices for voters, which became transparent when the Democrats shafted Sanders, the person whom really most Americans supported, America will never get there, and the only way it will change now...

Bored with picking time from my teeth
a swarm of idle moments
beg a home on the page
pleading for justice
while darker whispers burrow deep
until the sway of the Zephyr
soothes the night
and then I wake in a sweat
dreaming the bad guy got re-elected
the deserts caught fire
and oceans of apathy couldn't put it out
while all the world was humming
God save America
from itself

Today is Independence Day and my neighbors will use fireworks.
I hope that they will be careful because people could get hurt.
Last night they used powerful fireworks that sounded like dynamite.
I could hear some children crying because of fright.

Heartbeats Red, Heartbeats White, Heartbeats Blue
Amid the clash of musket fire and roar of cannon's boom
A young man marched to battle, in the midst of smoke and fume
He heard the beating of the drums, and felt his heart take flight
And stood there in his uniform, prepared to face the fight

malt o meal salt shakers kiss the rocks;
ocean spray coagulate.
miss laid the remote
as the skies darken.
air raids can
leave the rock greasy
and conditioned.
forward completion,
final gears spring
complex equations.
grid locked pattern
counting road conditions,
incomplete intricacies
manifesto presto,
garden variety gusto
fields the sow.
infrared airways
channel no. 5 pesticide.

the red is to taste
