The Peace Offering
He walks up to you, ready to forgive.
You roll your eyes as he isn't looking.
His intents are good as any, his heart as fragile as glass.
He says he's sorry for what he's done, knowing he didn't do it.
"I really have to go now," you lie to his naive ear.
He knows better than that, but simply stares as you leave.
The day's flown by, you head for home.
You open your door to find a menacing figure.
There you find his body lying in a puddle of blood.
His skin is torn off, and he holds out his dripping heart
In an arm that's only bone.
You know what you've done, but what to do now?
Accept his heart and he shall die,
Reject it and he shall kill you.
