I will always remember the day you were born
Such an adorable tiny man
Teeny and angelic and precious
I could almost hold you with just one hand

I always remember when you were a year old
Bigger in size was that still little man
Crawling here and there at lightning speed
And I was one of your biggest fans

I will always remember watching you learn to walk
Colossal steps taken by a teeny man
Grabbing the dog’s tail to pull yourself up
A misguided, but innocent, plan

I will always remember picking you up after school
Smartest kid in the class was that young man
Eyes lighting up when you saw me walk in
Never embarrassed to hold my hand

I will always remember playing “Mustang” with you
Counting cars with a sharp-sighted small man
You never missed a single vehicle
Shouting out when one your eyes scanned

I will always remember cooking and crafting with you
Creative talent so obvious in that pint-sized man
You said you’d always want to create things with me
And I hope that we always can

I will always remember watching creepy movies with you
Such a fearless and brave wee man
I was always more frightened than you were
Filtering the scariest parts through my hand

I will always remember taking you out to dinner
A huge appetite in a diminutive man
Well behaved but nine kinds of goofy
Surprising that we never were banned

So always remember even when you’re grown
Even if you become a stooped-over old man
I will always love you more than I can put into words
And you will always be Aunt Jayne’s little man
