Daysong I
A beautiful glow
Fills the Eastern sky, setting
Golden fire to gray.
Fiery sunlight
Kisses the damp grass, setting
The dewdrops alight.
A soft wind rustles
The leaves of the slum'bring trees,
Stirring them from sleep.
Birds begin to chirp,
Twitter, and warble--soon the
Air is full of song.
Delicate flowers
Unfold their soft petals to
Embrace the new day.
The Sun leaps higher--
Every shadow flees in
Its brilliant fire.
The laughing stream greets
The thirsty deer arriving
At its muddy banks.
The sparkling dewdrops
Melt from the frosty grass in
The heat of the Sun.
The honeybees dance
On the clover, happy to
Begin the day's work.
Insects begin to
Buzz and sing while spiders spin
Their delicate webs.
A shy rabbit creeps
Out from the brush to nibble
On the soft green grass.
The Sun blazes down
On the muddy ground, drying
And cracking the dirt.
A hawk wheels and turns
Overhead, scanning for prey
With his bright, sharp eyes.
The Sun slowly sinks
To the ground, swirling dying
Gold with blue once more.
The field mice scamper
Back to their nests, while owls cry
From the dark'ning pines.
Night draws her sparkling
Black cape over the land--it's been
A beautiful day.
Fills the Eastern sky, setting
Golden fire to gray.
Fiery sunlight
Kisses the damp grass, setting
The dewdrops alight.
A soft wind rustles
The leaves of the slum'bring trees,
Stirring them from sleep.
