Early Elusive

A locomotive clacks
dawn rain patters
and a bird sings to no-one

I am first
I am first

that worm is mine, see
now all the world
belongs to me

And just for a moment
the cursor blinks
more slowly
than my stubborn heart beats
to push me tumbling
over cliffs through sticky air
where proud wings spread
lungs forget to breathe
and an invisible kiss
bids darkness adieu
