Early Elusive
A locomotive clacks
dawn rain patters
and a bird sings to no-one
I am first
I am first
that worm is mine, see
now all the world
belongs to me
And just for a moment
the cursor blinks
more slowly
than my stubborn heart beats
to push me tumbling
over cliffs through sticky air
where proud wings spread
lungs forget to breathe
and an invisible kiss
bids darkness adieu

The title is perfect.
YET, the cursor blinks....this meaning has eluded me. I believe the last lines are to describe the dawn...what pray-tell is the cursors meaning above...before this ? I am in my mind perceiving it to be the clocks digital reading....If i am correct I must say that I am impressed with this piece....it is astounding.
I fear that my interpretation may not be the writers intention..I do not wish to misconstrue the intended meaning.

Hi Lisa - it's always a case of what you the reader choose to make of a poem. There's isn't an incorrect interpretation, which is arguably the biggest difference between poetry and prose.
That said - imagine yourself in the process of writing this poem (now the cursor is blinking at you waiting for your next keystroke) and at that moment you realize you have become the bird which you hear singing launching yourself into the dawn sky.
Much of my poetry focuses on a single moment - I've always been fascinated how circumstances and even worlds can change in the blink of an eye.
