NOTE TO A NURSE
To you, my favourite little nurse,
I give in thanks this little verse.
You are my angel of good care,
Never-idle limbs and neat-kept hair.
Your way does put me at my ease
After the trauma and dis-ease.
I ask, a-whisper not a shout,
“Would you like me to take you out?”
Not out of lust or sentiment
But gentlemanly compliment.
Whose company to better share
Than one who has your gift of care?

Aren't the nurses great? My daughter has been thanked so many times as she says "just for doing my job" but, as we all know, it's for far more than that.

I wrote this bringing in some personal memory of a lovely younger nurse I was under after an accident some years ago. At least I was admiring, at most I was strongly attracted to distraction but I calmed down after I learned through conversation she was "Taken" (she since became a Mum). However we remained on cheerful friendly terms for some years (she worked at my workplace's med centre). Had she been available, I would have asked her out for the reasons given in verse two. I also have an older but short, sweet woman friend who is a nurse and we have a shared soft spot that comes out in hugs. I often think of her as "my favourite little nurse" though we did not meet through her work but through church circles.
