Ain't what I used to be
Leave me here under your stone
With broken, battered, and withered bones
Cast me into your pit of shameful distain
Watch me struggle, but never complain
Wish for my ashes and my very dust
Beg for my memory to go without fuss
Laugh, mock, scoff, and dance
And leave me there without a second glance
But know one thing and never forget
The blessing was in the day that we met
I am your past, yes, your mistakes and all
That rock under your feet making you tall
So I will fade away knowing my work here is done
Having made you the star you have become
If you ever doubt yourself recall me
I'll be there in spirit to set you free
But for now know the past goes without shame
Leaving you here to play life's tricky game
Wisdom is your companion and confidence your child
Nurture & cherish them... live, and remember to smile.
