Pas-De-Deux
I walk zombie-like through these streets of reality
my existence neither here nor there
lips stilled and mute
silent
but ever listening
for the cue of the music.
eyes veiled
but alert and knowing,
I wait patiently for that first chord.
The music begins
I shed my skin
dance naked and with abandon
nuance and innuedo
as my willing partners
we leave our footprints in words
Some will observe the dance upon the page
and stiffen or seek to bridle thoughts
some will simply smile
pass on unchanged by what they witness
the naked poetess
dancing upon the slickened pen
giving rise to abandon
in a lusty pas-de-deux
I'll not censor your thoughts
or attempt to influence your thinking
you shall see as you believe
And although you listen and watch
an eager voyeur
with an active imagination for observing the carnal
I can't speak to you
My words hold no sway
And I will not shout to be heard
over the music in your head
You shall see what you want to see
I Just continue to dance
and whisper softly
only to those that can feel me
my existence neither here nor there
lips stilled and mute
silent
but ever listening
for the cue of the music.
eyes veiled
but alert and knowing,
I wait patiently for that first chord.

Softly penned. The key to this poem is the language, and the language is beautiful. "We leave our footprints in words" is the lasting image from this. I'm enjoying your work. Thank you for the read.

Warm to "we leave our footprints in words". Clever word play linking dancing and writing.
