Ode to my Grandmother
You are the sweetest woman
That I have ever met
And even though I live with
All kinds and forms of regret
I can guarantee you one thing,
You I could never forget
I am a simple misfit
As you are well aware
You proposed to me kindness
Sometimes more than I could bare
But occasionally I would wonder:
Why bother to even care?
We are now closer than ever
And even though I think
Of running away with someone else
Who stole me with a wink
The guilt is overwhelming
And it makes my poor heart sink
That I have ever met
And even though I live with
All kinds and forms of regret
I can guarantee you one thing,
You I could never forget
I am a simple misfit
As you are well aware
You proposed to me kindness
Sometimes more than I could bare
But occasionally I would wonder:
Why bother to even care?
We are now closer than ever
And even though I think
Of running away with someone else
Who stole me with a wink
The guilt is overwhelming
And it makes my poor heart sink
