I honestly used to want nothing more than recognition; I craved people looking at anything that I did and say something like "Hey! This is amazing!" That's all I really wanted. I didn't write for artistry, I wrote to be adored (like it really did me any good, I'm still where I was a year ago). When I was younger, I used to be all about being "a non-conformist", "an independent", now look at me. Hypocrisy. Not at it's finest, there are those who are worse than me, but I'm still a pretty decent example. I suppose that this, in a sense, is my "coming out"....

Ashes and Dust
I have decided
that love does not exist,
My brain, my logic
have told me this.
Passion and lust
are superficial,
while the connections between us
begin to fizzle.
The burning flame
that love once was
is burning out
leaving ashes and dust.
The thing that really
makes me choke,
the broken pieces
beneath the smoke.

Nervous
Be still my heart,
Please stop beating.
We are not supposed to recognize
For whom you are bleeding.
Concentrate, my mind,
Focus on the task at hand,
Dismiss the endorphins
Emanating from your glands.
My legs, my legs,
Continue to walk,
Don’t turn to jelly,
And face, try not to gawk.
Stomach, don’t churn,
Ignore the butterflies,
Hands do not fidget,
And do not look into his eyes
Please stop beating.
We are not supposed to recognize
For whom you are bleeding.

Funny Little Flights of Life
Once again something is on my mind
I am aware that I need to learn to unwind
But I'm a tired clock, still ticking
And I will click until the end
When my pendulum stops swinging
And there is no more kindness to lend
I am a bird with a broken wing
Tired from flight, no desire to sing
A humble canary, or a cockatoo
Some funny little bird
With a song in her heart
But no words to my story
That is falling apart
Not so much falling, but coming to end
The strangeness continues to awkwardly bend
Yet all of the components are...

What the hell are you trying to do?
I want to ask, but that would mean talking to you
If only you could give me some kind of a clue
Than our problems would be gone, over and through
The problem with you is honesty
Or lack off, you lie so people don't see

King of Hearts
You held my hand
My heart’s a flutter
I pull away
And give a mutter
You pursue me further
And with a quick kiss
I throw away logic
Declare it amiss
Never considered “easy”
Perhaps harder to tame
But you won my silly heart
So I guess it’s all the same
You send me your love
Which I pretend not to receive
But I secretly am smiling
And hiding it up my sleeve
With eyes so alluring
And a mischievous grin
I consider a romance with you
And deduce it as sin
With so many cards
Within the deck
I shall take my...

If Only You Could Give It Up
Let it go, let it go
Said the blind man to the bird
Let it die, let it die
And not give another word
I cannot feed you lies anymore
You have chosen me to simply ignore
The closing of the rotting door
Has an underlying theme that means so much more
You only want me to tell you
What you want to hear
Now I no longer have your permission
To whisper in your ear
I wanted to help, I honestly did
Then something came up
Emotions, with which I hid

Again, For You I Have Fallen
You are a tad bit narcissistic
Arrogant, yet so fantastic
Slightly dark, but strangely charming
And I find my feelings for you quite alarming
When did these feelings grow?
Did I hide them well or did you already know?
I love the twinkle in your eyes
I hate to see you go because I hate good-byes
Your hello’s always make me smile
Honestly, I can’t believe I ever found you vile

Handicap
Cut my hands off so I’ll never hold a charming relic again
Cut my arms off so I’ll never embrace anyone I care for again
Cut my hair off so I’ll never have the wind running through it again
Cut off my feet so I’ll never feel the sand between my toes again
Cut off my legs so I’ll never walk through the garden of irises again
Cut out my stomach so I’ll never know the pleasure of a full belly again
Cut out my lungs so that I’ll never take a breath of sweet, delicious mountain air again
Cut off both ears so that I’ll never hear the familiar sound of a soft piano again ...

The Conformist I Care For
Why is your intelligence not on for proud show?
And why do you hide the wonder within your bright soul?
You are different and unique, marvelous and strange
You are on the verge of revelation, realization, and perhaps even change
Why not display your brightness, instead of cowering behind new trends?
There will only be so many people like you when it all comes to an end.
And the awful thing about it, I love you for who you are
But I love the real you, and you seem to me a moon to my star
And why do you hide the wonder within your bright soul?
You are different and unique, marvelous and strange

Thoughts on Love
Love is a remarkably popular topic, for everyone not just the poets. Artists, musicians, dancers, playwrights, authors, etc., all of these people attempt to capture the essence of love in order to try and express the feeling/sensation/emotion, whatever we may choose to call it, brings out in us.

Eyes
For I know that you have taken
Much more than you have gave
And your brilliant eyes,
They make me want to cave
They are gorgeous, so blue
And like an ocean wave
But the way you look at me
Makes me want to misbehave
But I hate the way you look at me
And haunt my every dream
Like a tailor who itches to break
Every little seam
The way I feel about you
Is a most bitter theme
I need you to stay away,
Do you understand what I mean?
Much more than you have gave
And your brilliant eyes,
They make me want to cave
