I wouldn't have guess it was Summer.
It's 3:19am
Though it may as well be noon
And I've barely slept in days.
“Just one drink will help me sleep”
I say
As I finish my third
And I tell others,
“Oh it's been cold”
And that is not exactly a lie
The warmest Summer nights make me shiver
And the coolest stormy nights make me sweat
The earth has frozen over
And I caught
My reflection
In the ice puddles
On the side of the road
And saw the face of a girl
Whose life isn't where
She thought it would be a year ago
Though it's a bit
To take back
The sly digs
And the confessed love now.
Though it may as well be noon
And I've barely slept in days.
“Just one drink will help me sleep”
I say
As I finish my third
And I tell others,
“Oh it's been cold”
And that is not exactly a lie
The warmest Summer nights make me shiver
And the coolest stormy nights make me sweat
The earth has frozen over
And I caught
My reflection
In the ice puddles
On the side of the road
And saw the face of a girl
Whose life isn't where
She thought it would be a year ago
Though it's a bit
To take back
The sly digs
And the confessed love now.
