All-bearing
The bank; bearer
of life as we've come to know it.
Brutality used to be driven by passion
now it's so subtle
even Robin fuckin' Hood
wouldn't be a stranger
to the looking-at-the-ground position
and smiling while he takes it
because he got a great deal
on his pet insurance,
life insurance,
health insurance,
sky TV,
subscriptions,
prescriptions,
cars,
tax...
Seems the world
is a much more efficient juicer
when operated with patience
and cruelty.
At least you can pay for your own funeral
with the right insurance,
but don't hesitate.
Start paying now.

Mr A
I read this when you posted it earlier but didn't think I grasped all of everything so figured I'd wait and go again. I'm glad I did 'cos I'd missed a lot.
I like it , I like the idea and how it plays out to the end. consumerism, driven by the banks.
nice word play with 'bearer' at the start.
alright so, you could probably get away with dropping the 'the ' before bearer on the first line.
"Brutality used to be driven by passion" you could probably understand if someone were to get a tad confused with this line, might be that 'used to be' is generally said like, "ah yeah that used to be great" but with Brutally before it there's a kind of confusion that isn't really resolved by the end of the line (make sense?)
I think the rest runs smoothly enough and ends on the right note.
good stuff man.

I was hoping the brutality aspect would of been resolved with the mention of Robin Hood; meaning the monarchs, introduction to taxes and stuff when kings were seen as ruthless and brutal. If you say it could be confusing, then I'm in no place to argue 'cause you're the reader. I'll think about that.
I nearly went a humorous route with this. "in the looking-for-his-contact-lens position", but changed my mind a little. I'd get rid of the 'the', but I like how it reads. :) (changed my mind and took it out)
Cheers for the honesty. It's needed.

"with patience
and cruelty"
left me chilled to the bone. Something about it...
I get this, that brutality has a different form now.

Yeah it got a little sinister/sardonic.
Makes my bones smile that you got it. That was the heart of this piece.

Thank you, man. The nature of a civilised ape is vicious and dumb, but we can revel in the grey.
