Stitches
Stitches--a great idea.
Where once was a wound, now is sealed. The pieces of flesh joined by a needle and thread. Sinewy laces stretch the gap and seal the hole. Where once was a wound, is now a whole--the damage mended. Where once was a wound, the two halves are unified in strength.
As with all things mended, the joined flesh grows back to a perfect delicate scar. A memory of what once was, reminding us of the event which brought us to harm--a perfect memory. A history of things that happened, now a reminder of what is to come.
The pain emblazoned upon our hearts and minds; a reminder of the anguish and the strength we had to overcome it. Stitches are the glue that holds us together in spite of pain and difficulty. They give us the propensity to heal and the strength of the past in the now.
We are stronger today than we were yesterday, and stronger yet than we were a week ago. Our lives, the way we've made them, have made us what we are today, a series of stitches--one after the other--which slowly mend to scars.
