Just a body

You look at me with misted eyes,
The damage here is done.
The words you always feared to say,
you said beneath a setting sun.

My heart is nothing but a beat,
there is no love within.
My soul is nothing but a cheap
imitation of all men.

You hold my hand so tenderly,
You know that I am gone.
I look at you with love and hate,
Our worlds collide as one.

A universe was born today,
You called it perfect love.
I called it chemical equation,
Not some blessing from above.

There cannot be perfection in what perfection cannot see.
And perfect is as imperfect as the perfection left in me.
It is broken on the doorstep,
and shattered in your room.
Perfection is a bigger word than I have ever known.

You tell me with such subtle lips,
tell me you love me so.
And in passive-aggressive passion we let our feelings go.
