"I Will Catch You",..

I've fallen so many times in my life
some falls have been harder than others
from greater heights,
those tumbles have been the most painful
I've often heard I'll never let you fall
but it seems like my cries of catch me go unheard  
the one who said it,
leaving me with more pain.  
 
This time seems different
the scars of your falls are clear
it's obvious
your cries of catch me have also gone unheard,
your heart, like mine is battered  
from the many disappointments of broken promises
of those that didn't hear your cries
witnessed your tears,
 
You too search for a soft place to land
but are only met by the crushing reality
that outside of yourself
there is no support - or a safe landing place
But somehow you find in your heart
the ability to notice that this person,
you've just crossed path's with
is also in search of that safety net.
 
A net, a strong arm, a kindred soul
to keep them from free falling  
& their heart from being shattered --,yet again
you look into their eyes  
Recognizing in them the same pain,
pain that you are intimately familiar with
 
You gather that one to yourself
as you both fight back the tears
sharing the stories of the many tumbles & falls  
that caused you to shut down.......and  
you whisper to one another,.."I Will Catch You"...  
I say to you "I will catch you!"
