relationships end
Looking at this man, who is now a stranger
Wondering how we allowed it to get so far
Two people living side by side
Allowing years pass them by
Beginning years, so young, so new
Discovering our bodies, our inner selves
Holding on together planning for our future
Thinking it will last forever, no worries
Years go by and life finds road blocks placed in the way
Business of working, bills, stressors of life
Children offering a different belonging of love
We discover them, enjoying these amazing moments
There is no defining moment when we were pushed aside
No “a ha” moment to heed a warning
We drifted apart lacking any concerns
We both became lonesome in our life together
Resentment collapses the relationship, like pieces of stacked wood
Falling one by one as the winds blows
We weren’t strong enough to stand the storm
The shelter we created was weak
Without a notice to it brewing, well surrendered
From our relationship we were blessed with our children
These miniatures of us, to carry on our souls
We never lost sight of the children, family memories are solid
We lost sight of each other, these two young people so in love
Life threw us a challenge, we did well!
Life threw us together, maybe not to be with each other
We both served our purpose in our relationship
We both loved and cared for each other, given the tools we were raised with
The blame game has to end
It brings hurt and anger, stirs the pot
Things in the past need to stay in the past
Things in the future should be appreciated
Wondering how we allowed it to get so far
Two people living side by side
