Dream Sequence #1

I stand amongst them, an alien in their world. They survey me coldly at first, with their blurred faces and static pose. I look at my hands, they are blank are empty, fleshy pulps with no character or definition. As I stare at them, the world shifts around me, the detail of my fingers and hands returns sharply, the intricate spirals and swirls of my identity reveal themselves to me in perfect clarity. I learn that this is my world, and that I might change it to suit my purpose. I look at these people with love, as their clothes shift and change. The world they have come to love dissolves, and around them I grow my street of comfort and joy. They are shocked, at first, though soon they come to cherish it as I do.I turn to one of them with intent, speaking clearly.
"Is this a dream?"

"No, Rhys, this is living. This is living."
The voice is distorted, melting from a soothing female charm in to a harsh male imperative. There is so much I can not see, can not understand. But I am here and I am at peace.
They walk now, strolling merrily, holding hands and exchanging stories and jokes. They climb the walls, striding across the ceilings with ease. There is grace in their defiance, their discard for logic and their adoration of chaos. This world does not make sense, though it's rules are so clear now.I take my first step, the floor beneath me rippling as I apply weight and pressure.The world around me freezes, and I feel it slipping. I am losing my place.And as I fall from them, they say in perfect unison "We are so sorry you think us dead."To my right, a hand. It presents me with a note, and as I read it the letters blur threateningly, the font morphing before my eyes.A simple message is shown;
'It is time to wake up.'
