Wayside

Oh Lord
I am waiting hungry
The children lost
Without
They wander through
The  streets
Cold amidst the winds
Dirty jagged tired,
Waiting for their priest
Their needle clean
Alleys of loneliness and despair
As the bleed cuts
Syringe falls
Ground

Oh Lord
I am waiting hungry
The night has come
And gone
Another day is here
The van of hope was white
Giving out clean needles
Clean food and water
Amidst the concrete wall
Graffiti of God
JESUS SAVES
Blood spurts once again
On the streets
Concrete and cold

Oh Lord
Ten children huddled
Huddled under the bridge
Their parents dispersed
Lost and waiting
For Thomas, Jack
Sarah, Michael
Shane, Zig, Ned,
Paul, Roy
James
Coffee, cigarettes
Cold
Wet
Disease

Oh Lord
By the Wayside Chapel
By the roadside
By the broadside
By the cats in the dark
By the night
By the northside
By the eastside
By westside
By southside
These are
Your children
Your hungry children
Bleeding cold on the street

Oh Lord
I am waiting hungry
