Living in a No Man's Wonderland

Again, something meaningful to Northern Ireland - and to my now home city, Belfast, in particular. Inspired by the recent mini-riots at the binding decision to display the Union flag at City Hall for a mere 18 'designated' days a year, as opposed to having a previously permanent display. Theresa Villiers is the UK government's current Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.

City Hall, thugs and looters
Vote is lost - What a hoot as
A beautiful sight
We're trashing tonight
Living in a No Man's Wonderland.

Gone away old 'obscene' ways.
Now we fly on fifteen days.
Allegiance is wrong to those we belong
Living in a No Man's Wonderland

In the distance see Theresa Villiers,
Then pretend she doesn't wear a frown.
She'll say: Are you married? Don't be silly as
We can't agree on much in our home town.

Later on, we'll perspire
As we build a bonfire
Of old ways concern
Is where we return,
Living in a No Man's Wonderland.

In the distance see Theresa Villiers
A circus clown's what we'll pretend we've found.
We'll throw custard pies and we'll be silly as
A goose - but what when Christmas comes around?

Aren't we all, funny creatures
Cut our nose spite our features
We'll frolic and play, in Alice's way,
Living in a No Man's Wonderland.
