Hard Goodbye
Whom, like I, has seen the terrors of this world?
Whom, like I, has felt the coldness of one's heart?
The coldness of a parent's heart? Or lack of one.
The coldness of a friend's heart? Did they have one?
The days of the schooling, so without a soul to friend.
The days of the schooling, I learned only that the world hates.
What was true was the hatred.
Thinking back, how am I even still breathing?
As I walk this world alone, like a poet, I learn from my mistakes.
In the cold dark night, I rethink my options.
It is escape that is on my mind, to give up.
No, not on life, to give up on the people.
Standing by my new home, to become the strong, if i can.
Standing by my new home, in which I may live or die.
I stand alone, trying not to cry, Though now I do say "bye."
I take one step toward the wilderness, with no hope to survive.
Survival I do not want, yet death I do not want. Simply peace.
I take another step, and into the forest I go.
