Deep Listening

I asked
for a list
of the music
you listen to
and I am still working
on the very first song
you suggested.

The thought
that this entered your mind
and that the hands
that wrote it
got into your head
and slept with you
at night
as you listened to it
when falling
from wakefulness
and into the dreams
that led you to my door
have so captured
my imagination
that I have purchased
the house
where the writer
who penned that music
grew up
and have torn up
the floor boards
to use as the slats
beneath the  mattress
where we will lay
when I make love to you.
