Dear Author

 I am here,
on the other side
of this blank page,
in the ink yet expended
from your pen,
in your thoughts yet marshaled
into order;
just on the other side
of reality
and imagination,
waiting for you
to bring me to life.
I wonder how you will write me;
will I be virtuous,
or brazen?
Will I have
verse after verse
declaring my beauty,
or will I be a hideous mess?
Am I to be a hero
or villain?
Or will I be
a background character,
quickly forgotten by the readers,
but so important
in setting the tone?
Now, before I am created,
I am nothing,
but have the potential
to be anything.
Everything
that I am yet to be
rests in your hands.
