For After the First Snow

For after the first snow
I gave you a rose
A single one
Bright shades of pink
Spreading out from the center

Spiraling out towards the edges
The petals
Each one is connected
In the heart of the flower

For it means more
Than you know

I wont go into detail
Or explain what I mean
Cause its definitly more than it probably seems

It may feel like nothing
Or something sweet
To have and to keep

But what you dont see
Is the meaning beneath
That consists of feelings

It lays underneath
Just like in the sea
And it were a reef

It will probably die in a day
Or a few
But when I offered it up
It wasnt just for you

I held it out
With hope
Thats for sure

I hoped that youd take it
With all of my heart
From the petals and stem
To the thorns that have the ability
To tear you apart

But thats not my intention
I think that you know
That from the start

It resembles not what it looks like
But what could be in your mind
I hope that if you understand
That you will be kind

So
I gave you this rose
