Placidity
1.
The clanging, hissing,
water-running sounds
erupted nearby her:
collectively this
covered any other noise
but it was ittitating
and interruptive to her
body/mind: she listened
to a door being unlocked,
flinched, wondered if that
time had come too.
2.
She tried to stop them,
really, yet tears just
came in a rush down her
chipped cheeks: dropped,
dripped, slipped onto her
blanket. She rubbed, scrubbed
them away but more immediately
took their place. She sank into
a corner, wept, cried, kept losing
her breath. Like a child confronted
with a scary movie, she pulled the
blanket over her head. She hunched
over there, in that singular place,
almost like her home now, in absolute
complete shades of darker darkness.
