Placidity

1.

The clanging, hissing,

water-running sounds

erupted nearby her:

collectively this

covered any other noise

but it was ittitating

and interruptive to her

body/mind:  she listened

to a door being unlocked,

flinched, wondered if that

time had come too.

2.

She tried to stop them,

really, yet tears just

came in a rush down her

chipped cheeks: dropped,

dripped, slipped onto her

blanket.  She rubbed, scrubbed

them away but more immediately

took their place.  She sank into

a corner, wept, cried, kept losing

her breath.  Like a child confronted

with a scary movie, she pulled the

blanket over her head.  She hunched

over there, in that singular place,

almost like her home now, in absolute

complete shades of darker darkness.
