The Loneliness In Freedom
there is a loneliness
in absolute freedom
free to do whatever
no one cares
free to choose
yet there isn't a choice to be made
free to be yourself
no one is around to notice
free to walk the streets
by yourself
free to drink into the wee hours
alone
free fucking free
unaccompanied
free,free,free
absolutely lonely
in absolute freedom
free to do whatever
no one cares
free to choose
yet there isn't a choice to be made
free to be yourself
no one is around to notice
free to walk the streets
by yourself
free to drink into the wee hours
alone
free fucking free
unaccompanied
free,free,free
absolutely lonely

This is one fantastically simple piece with so much truth to it. When we lose our freedom only to regain it in fleeting glimpses, those moments are so sweet and all the more appreciated. Awesome!

I'm not really a good critic but I'l try.
This touches me.
I knew where it was going and followed whole heartedly.

lonliness is underrated and a real soul killer. Thank you. simple and pure. I also suck as a critique.

In my experience freedom, as a feeling, emotion (instead of a positive political condition, which is impossible) comes and goes, comes and goes, like the clouds. We can watch it, observe it and notice the feeling of freedom is in me, not in the outside world, not even in you, but in me. Otherwise how could someone in jail feel free? You bring out the fleetingness of freedom well. We feel free in the way we get a glimpse of sunshine, say, never totally, never absolute. Thank you for the wonderful poem.

those who are free from social bonds are lonely people. i know. but to be absolutly free, loneliness is a small price to pay. this is a lovely piece.

Ouch - this one's got more than a fair share of pain. A "careful what you wish for" reprimand runs through, waves, then crooks a finger in "catch me if you can" fashion. It's awesome Nikki.
