"Chasing Damage"
Tell my folks to forgive me
I’m not the judas they seek
Blamed for being different
I used to be strong now I’m weak
The present is part of my future
A slippery slope we slide
depressed with sickness
The future looks incredibly bleak
I took your mind to break
Chase my damage
Or at least try
Abandon the values that you live by.
Like a wrecking ball
I am the apple of your eye
This forbidden fruit has fallen
Descended into a paradise not fit for human hands
This sea is strong,
weighed down by shifting sands.
Somebody needs to know
Somebody take me home.
I would never leave you without a kiss
This gun discharged,
the target missed.
Tell my love to forgive me
I’m not the damage she thinks
This present is part of the future
This future is just out of reach.
Hands unknown hold me
Faceless figures to teach
Tell my friends to forgive me
Over a shallow grave they grieve.
I’m not the judas they seek
Blamed for being different
I used to be strong now I’m weak
The present is part of my future
A slippery slope we slide
depressed with sickness
The future looks incredibly bleak
I took your mind to break
Chase my damage
Or at least try
Abandon the values that you live by.
Like a wrecking ball
I am the apple of your eye
This forbidden fruit has fallen
Descended into a paradise not fit for human hands
This sea is strong,
weighed down by shifting sands.
Somebody needs to know
Somebody take me home.
I would never leave you without a kiss
This gun discharged,
the target missed.
Tell my love to forgive me
I’m not the damage she thinks
This present is part of the future
This future is just out of reach.
Hands unknown hold me
Faceless figures to teach
Tell my friends to forgive me
Over a shallow grave they grieve.
