the machine

I love the phrase "retarded motion." Wonderfully pessimistic piece of verse, a somewhat philosophical rumination on the fact that, no matter how brave or successful we are, "the machine" will destroy us all in the end, before eventually self-destructing. Why? Who knows? Perhaps those higher ups are just schoolboys round an anthill with a magnifying glass...

whats the second law of thermodynamics (I'm trying to sound smart) everything reverts back into chaos.. and as the centuries and millenia have gone by we've just gotten worse.. like a baby in the beginning all was quiet and beautiful then they grow up and become teenagers and after that grows up gets to a certain age and starts to get little pains here and there.. then the skin starts to sag and wrinkles and arthritus and organs start to deteriorate and the surgies until they die.. its just inevitability.. but if everything is cyclic then he is reincarnated (perhaps.. thoguh I hope not) and the whole world and machine reincarnate in a different form a different universe and start all over because perhaps everything that reverts into chaos also reverts back into that little baby that was so beautiful and charming..

'and it will all disappear' that's a much more quiet end than I'd have thought...and I quite like that, I can picture it all slowly folding in on itself. I think yours (both of the machine ones) are much more human somehow than the one I wrote, much more sympathetic.

i just have a soft place in my heart for the subject of everything going away and never coming back.. fuck reincarnation.. but I really dug yours even though it had more jagged edges than mine

I can conclude a connectivity somewhere between the routine and the machine...I will say that this one is not pessimistic or sympathetic...maybe a stopper for everyone to think beyond everything...there is an emptiness and that the things will not last forever...

i think the machine made the routine to try to keep things in order but obviously that's not working because it only wants more like a drug addict or gambler or whatever nothing is ever enough and i think the only non pessimist part of this poem is the very last two lines.. and yes there is something else beyond everything.. even bigger than the machine.. and the final implosion of everything will not be in the hands of the machine though I suppoes it could have all be inevitable

Man only made machines to allow some routine which seemed evitable at a certain point...however, no machine can be more complicated than man itself...the point is understanding its circuit and the complicacy is resolved...however, you are right that often we are trapped with our very own machines and we seem to object...the title and your thought are both very apt...
