The Portion

He'd insist on same glass of whisky
On the rocks as always
and tips higher than the cost
Or you could just say he forgets the change
Nothing means a thing to him
Not a thing

You’d almost spot his missing heart
as he stares around the bar
If he thought of it
which happens in rare occasion
Only when he's queuing a song on jukebox
Same song he'd pick
and sing along half the song

Another glass please,
he'd have another and another
then start thinking' of her
her big smile as she saw him off
before he left for his military services
"Till' you return my heart's at your service"

She’d say, but not the last time
Her heart was at his service as always
and still lives in him within
but her hold and touches are missing
She was dismissed unfairly
From him...

And maybe a different 2morrow
will come
when the portion will make him realise
that she'll love him till' infinity
from the skies  above,
But he needs another to hold him
of the world below.
