Tears
Tears pour down an arid face
Carving furrows in ash like skin
Weathered features unused to moisture
Soak and smear emotions rain
Deluge follows rampant deluge
Unused ducts feel the pain
This old man once strong unbending
Forced over double with the strain
Like a babe the crying continues
Weeping salty tears of despair
Countenance a twisted ruddier mass
Sniffing snorting animal grunts
Exhausted ripped body spasms slower
Inhaling deeper from staccato breaths
Racked with pain subdued torso
Comes to a quivering form of rest
Bathe reddened eyes washed away
Unbend the body and stand erect
Mangled face returns its usual vista
External evidence erased for humanity
But inside the pain remains just hidden[/font]

Well written, cleanly expressed and disciplined poem, an effective conveyance of despair, inner turmoil, and the image of the old man bent double from grief was quite profound. One minor quibble, though: in the second line, don't you mean "skin like ash" instead of "ash like skin"?
