Soap Box; Can't Help It 101

I have partisan preferences
even though no longer a Dem
but once again I must ask what's going on
as we slouch into November
election day

Daggers and darts thrown at the other side
while the candidates themselves stay clean
on the surface debates gloss over
quiet about issues which challenge the status quo
depression day

Money makers the media companies that rake in
tons for expensive ads
ads that may distort or ignore the truth
and now the Super-Pacs
get drunk day

Not even sure it is so much the particular candidates
more about the political machines behind them
and tied to them
from Daisy nuclear bomb ad of LBJ's, Willie Horton, etc.
turns into forget about it and get laid day
