The Somerset Levels

Theres a place I know
So enchanting and free
A mystical wonder
A land of beauty
Trees of wisdom
guard this tranquil dream
And elegant swans
They glide upon the rhyne
Rivers snake through
this peaceful land
and bare footed lovers
walk hand in hand
A willow man, so rustic
In this west country light
Song birds rest upon him
Before they take flight
In the distance, on the horizon
On the sacred hill
The majestic tor
where the brothers and sisters chill

with my cider in the sun
I exorcise my devils
Please bury me when I go
In the somerset levels

Dragonflies they hover
Against the golden sun
Starlings glide so elegantly
In there flocks they always come
Lilly pads and golden cups
Dance upon the river
So peaceful and soothing
My soul starts to quiver
These green fields of envy
Smothered in a dragons breath
A wise and hungry buzzard
Swoops down from right to left
So come get lost in this paradise
beware of the bogs and the peat
Bring a rain coat and a camera
And wellington boots for your feet

With my cider in the sun
I exorcise my devils
Please bury me when I go
In the somerset levels
