Step right up
and throw the dice
take a trip and
don't think twice
change the world-
you really can
stand right up
prove you're a man
Shout make love
and put down war
V i e t n a m
is out for sure
do it right-
burn your draft cards
shout the words
hell, we won't fight
Grow your hair
down to your knees
it doesn't matter
if you can't see
make love now
there in the park
it don't matter
if it ain't dark
take your time
and fade away
it's the thing
to g r o o v e today

Cool i love the sixties i was born to late, though i often have long hippy hair and beads and lisern to late 60's psyvadelic rock music lol
i can imagine being there and trying to change the world i think in some ways the people of the sixties did.

Thank you, Marcus. They were exciting times in many ways. The music back then really rocked! I actually wrote this when I was 16 years old.

Societal change DID happen with peaceful resistance and a determined youth. Nice snapshot of some of the feelings.

Hello Wolf! What a wonderful surprise it is to see you have pulled this poem out, dusted it off and read it. I remember the day I wrote it sitting near the edge of the duck pond at Fort Melon Park in Sanford, Florida. I was only sixteen and when I finished writing it, I was very proud of how it came out. Thank you for reading and responding to it, as it was one of my earliest attempts at writing poetry! Your comments really mean a lot to me.
