memories carved in the sky
they say
energy never dies
and everything's just chemical reactions
and waves of energy moving around
at different paces
and rhythms
even our emotions and thoughts
because they are a part of our mind/brain
just like everything else
and its all just energy
so when we leave
by tragedy or choice
we still leave the echo of our love
even if everything goes into the void
somewhere there will still be the reality
that at one time we occurred
and were in each others arms once
and never wanted to let go
and in that time/space
if any of that is left
we never will

I love these calmer streams of conscience poems you do..they always build up in waves until the final one of two lines where you finish it off perfectly each time.

the ending is so important.. I'm glad I'm able to make an impression with mine.. and I never really struggle with how to end a piece I just understand where it should go.. how it should climax.. yeah showing a different side of myself with these softer poems arent i

This is such a tear-jerkingly beautiful love poem, Nathan, classical and modern at the same time, like an age-old sentiment expressed anew in pure and fresh language. The idea of a memory of tenderness recurring in the void to assuage the dead is, well - I'm going to have to repeat myself as no other adjective will do - beautiful. One of your best, and your most complete rumination on love.

as artists/writers we're always trying to make something new.. bring something new to the table.. keeping in mind the saying its all been done.. I'm glad you see a twinkle of something new in my work while still paying homage respect to the classic words of the same of things of the heart.. thanks so much for your kind words and seeing this as one of my best on the subject.. cheers

If I could in any good conscience steal this, I would. But I do think I will tell my wife to read it because it's just so damned good. Nathan, I don't believe we've met before now but this work speaks volumes for you and I have nothing but respect for this kind of style and talent. Bravo.

thanks so much (and thanks for not stealing it) I try.. I just write from the heart.. be forewarned though a lot of my stuff is nothing like this if you decide to read some of my other pieces.. as good as I can write about things of the heart I can also to the same degree write from a place of anger and evil.. I do so hope your wife enjoys this.. thanks again

thank you with all my "hobbies" (i hate calling them talents) I try to be diverse.. as for death.. it's such a fascinating part of life.. like when shakespear (and the french) compared an orgasm to death calling it le petite morte the little death.. like love or lust death is a well which is never dry you can always take something new out of its face
