DON'T GET HURT
(Advice to younger women from an older who has known being wronged.)
It's nice to chat up men and flirt,
Providing you do not get hurt.
I've had my share of shifty men
Who promise you the earth and then
Show themselves false and cheat on you
Or use you as "someone who'll do"
For time being, then will stray
When another comes their way,
Leaving you rejected, sore,
Feeling treated as a whore.

loved the simplicity of this poem. The way you were able to capture such a strong and meaningful message in a short, stripped down poem was brilliant and exactly what the poem needed, also great job with the rhyme scheme as well. Solid write all around, cheers
