I am such a child.
touch, & run away
I am comprised of loose-fitting
ledge-sitting eyeballs, Peter Pan
knees that wish for wings to fly
Pendulum heels knocking
back & forth
treading water where there is none.
My elbows shake with laughter
at the funnybone joke of it
I know armbands of the brand I wear
cannot hope to keep me afloat
but are they heavy enough
to drag me
kicking & screaming
all the way down?
Tonight I will pray to empty space
& call it God
telling him I don't want to
ever leave
never-neverland
please
offering him a loaded silence
begging him to be merciful
& quick about it
