The meeting
I see you watching me from across the room
your eyes locked on my every move
the are signs written on your face
longing, worship, excitement, a touch of fear
your silent aching drowns out the noise around me
you are obviously trying to catch my eye
wanting me to see you as much as you see me
to recognize your desire and act
but I turn away
talk to someone next to me instead
refusing to give you what you want
an object lesson for you
you hoped I would notice you
seek you out and talk to you
but doing that would give you control
and you will have none with me
get used to it now
I glance in your direction
you’ve bowed your head
and are staring into your drink
accepting that you aren’t worthy of me
now we have common ground
and there is hope for you
your eyes locked on my every move
the are signs written on your face
longing, worship, excitement, a touch of fear
your silent aching drowns out the noise around me
you are obviously trying to catch my eye
wanting me to see you as much as you see me
to recognize your desire and act
but I turn away
talk to someone next to me instead
refusing to give you what you want
an object lesson for you
you hoped I would notice you
seek you out and talk to you
but doing that would give you control
and you will have none with me
get used to it now
I glance in your direction
you’ve bowed your head
and are staring into your drink
accepting that you aren’t worthy of me
now we have common ground
and there is hope for you
