Plastic Faces
Give me your tired, your mournful, your heartbroken expression
Give me your joyous, your ecstatic emotional tears
Your faces change at such fast pace, and almost as fast as the
cars on the highway seem to race. Your form has become forgotten
and melted into the shadows, yet I can still see your face.
Behind the curtains changes the veil, and ghost of humanity
still lingers along side. switched is the mask and how easy it looks to
handle the next task. The winkles don't show and the brows don't move as
the body goes to the grove of its repertoire.
Next act becomes a scene and the emotion of happiness seems untamed.
Through the playfulness of children to the bustle of work
The look that you give seems set in stone
Despite the bruises and broken bones
Or the times that would normally leave one feeling alone
Behind the plastic do you feel alone
Self conscious and scared to the bone
Hiding in the shadows dark and cold
In your own place where no one knows
Curtains closing for the end of the day
The mask is set down and emotions fade away
Into the darkness you go where your face can't be seen
Give me your dark, your scarred-ridden soul
I promise to keep this secret buried in its hole
Give me your joyous, your ecstatic emotional tears
Your faces change at such fast pace, and almost as fast as the
cars on the highway seem to race. Your form has become forgotten
