.repeat

when i was younger my dad told me
that the definition
of insanity
was doing the same thing
over and over
and expecting
a different result.

i didn't tell him then,
but all i could think
was the more times you hit
a closed door
the more likely
it will open
or break
or disappear.
oh,
i couldn't tell him that.

for an hour now i've been
listening to the
same song
on repeat
and i've been
breathing between breaks
in the music
and
i'll admit:
he was right.

i will always
feel this bad,
i will always be
my own
definition
of
your insanity.
