The Three Ls
There is exultation
To be found if you care to listen
To cries of new-born babies
To the screams of seagulls by the sea
To the calls of children from afar
To the soughing wind on the treetops
To the crash of waves upon the shore
They the sound of joyousness
Of being here and alive
There is love
To be found
In the gentle touch of a mother
For her children
In the firm reprimand of a father
For his sons
In rheumy eyes of beggars
For them who give alms
In lovers, in each other’s arms
There is laughter
Here there and everywhere
When joy and love
They come together
The rejoicing of like minds
Those who live, laugh and love...
The three Ls come together
Without which we are torn asunder
In depressed hatred to laugh no more.
