Winged Bliss

- Winged Bliss -

In soaring, like an angel, on winged bliss,
I felt like dancing, across the very skies…
And for but the price of thy warmest kiss:
I would bring thee the sun as it doth rise!
No greater love could I bestow than this,
Nor nobler passion to between us realize.
Mayhap we could, to old Mars fly so far,
To paint hearts on that red planet’s sands!
Mayhap we could touch each distant star,
And visit on other worlds, ancient lands…
Bringing to the galaxy peace and not war.
Our only law being our love’s commands!

In fields of lilies, paradises beyond count,
Thy lips were thirsty, my mouth the fount.

Fleeter, than promises made in the throes,
Of passion, would be our flight, ecstatic…
Across that void which only a god knows.
Swift our wings, our course never erratic!
To touch the flower that celestial grows…
And feel its’ currents, intense and electric.
Could we hold the eye of Jupiter in hands?
Nay, for what hand could grasp a world!
Could we touch Saturn’s rings and bands?
Aye, as to some paradise we are hurled…
Obedient to passion’s maddest demands,
Needing no ship, with sails ever unfurled!

Love is the vessel that bears us with fire…
Its’ fizzling fuel: the fair halo of our desire.

All this I can bestow, if thou wilt but care,
In selfless devotion, for an angel such as I!
Be not afraid, and into my eyes, but stare.
Within them, my soul is laid bare, not shy!
Take the lily from my hand, pale and fair…
And speak my name as together we defy,
The darkness of the universe that reaches!
I ask naught else, and this is all I do seek:
To fly with thee where only love breaches,
All walls and barriers that kept us weak…
Yet, which are fragile, as passion teaches.
Let thy own wings emerge; be not meek!
