Through the Looking Glass

I step into the looking glass
to see how my future will be.
Immediately there are memories past
beyond wherever the eye can see.

I notice there's a young man
He's thinking to himself.
About a childhood that flew into the can,
His current and former self.

Friends have gone by
But one buddy remains,
A twin who will not lie
And his help through heavy pains.

I see him in a law firm
Arguing his way to be right.
Even though he's won this turn
is his future very bright?

I watch him go to his home
When inside my eyes pop with disbelief...
There's a grand piano and vibraphone
Music covering the room, what a relief

But I also notice the table
With a pencil good as dead.
Poems and stories and fables,
Filling the table to every ledge.

But now the looking glass is closing
It has granted my wish and will.
My future will always be growing,
But I'm stuck in the present until.
